Some directorys put code on the outgoing links that uses software that tracks clicks. Some of these codes are harmless but some steal PR from your site. There are several methods of doing this.

Whenever you are looking for a directory to submit your site to run the mouse over one of the links of a site listed in their directory and look at the actual link. It may have the following in the URL "redir.asp?" or "id=(some number here)." Notice the "redir". That means there is a redirect on this link . Also the "id=" is another clue that it's being redirected as the number is used in place of the site name. Check this link in a server header checker and you will likely find a 302 or even a 301 redirect telling search engines that the content of the site listed in their directory is now the property of this directory. It may be a tracking code and not a malicious 302 redirect so check in this search engine friendly redirect checker also.

3) Enter your form title in the field and a brief description, then add your form fields and if desired make some required fields.

4) Under the See responses button, you can check form Summary or Spreadsheet where the submitted data is stored.

5) You can grab the embed code under More actions then Embed option or you can add a proper form submit confirmation message by clicking Edit Confirmation option

6) To be notified whenever someone submits a form , go to spreedsheet under see responses > spreadsheet option from the edit form page or you could go right from your google documents page. Now click on the share button and then click set notification rules. Set up your rules and then you are done.

HTML code to show in your blogger posts

Ok we all know blogger tries to add any html we want to show in a post as .... HTML codeing , not knowing that we only want to SHOW the html code , it instead trys to add the code to the post as it would add html to a web page.

There is a trick to get HTML code you want to show others to appear directly in your posts !!

The trick is to make it not seem like HTML code so that when it is posted it does not read as HTML , but gets re-encoded to appear as plain text and not actual code to be embedded within your post.

for example try to post this in one of your blog posts:

<meta content='KEYWORDS HERE' name='keywords'/>

and you will get this message from blogger :

ERROR

Your HTML cannot be accepted: Tag is not allowed: <meta content='KEYWORDS HERE' name='keywords'/>

URL should end in a valid domain extension, such as .com or .net

so the work around is to copy this :

<meta content='KEYWORDS HERE' name='keywords'/>

to this website app :

Encoder

now go to that link and cut , copy and paste that HTML code into the box on the website. Now press encode !! What comes out looks NOTHING like

<meta content='KEYWORDS HERE' name='keywords'/>

that you entered , however when you cut , copy and paste the results you get from that box ( after pressing encode ) into your post it will appear as exactly the HTML you entered into the box in the first place.

So now you can post HTML codes and XML codes directly on your blogger blog without that annoying error message or having to link off of your blog.

Ok log onto your blogger layout and edit the template (html)

Find :

Replace with:

now under this :

Fill in your site description where I have DESCRIPTION HERE in all caps. Be careful of what you add here , search engines will often use that right under your URL in the search pages. Do not spam this with keywords , two or three keywords in the site description is fine, If you spam the above with key words you will get banned from the search engines. The maximum number of characters that are recommend for this Tag is 150.

Now meta tag keyword tags are mostly dead in SeO. Most people do not bother with keywords these days in the <meta content='KEYWORDS HERE' name='keywords'/> as search engine's tend to ignore them due to webmasters who abused this tag in the past. Some say it has some relevance and it worth adding to the main landing page. It cant hurt. To be search engine friendly you do want want to add any words repeated more than 5 times in this tag. Simply replace KEYWORDS HERE with the key words you want tagged and separate them with a comma !! Remember not to spam any word more then 5 times.

Title Tag:

This meta tag still mater's and does hold some weight in SeO ( search engine optimization ) However we bloggers who host our blog on blogger do not add this to the HTML , instead it is found under SETTINGS : Basic it is what you filled in under : title. This Tag should contain keywords and keyword phrases that are important to your site. The recommended maximum number of characters for this tag is 60.

As far as key words go , the best key word strategy is to have your posts containing the key words you want the search engines to count. This includes the title of your post as well.

Your description tag will also hold weight on key words and ranking.

XML site map for your blogger

XML site maps have many benefits. Even if your blog is hosted on google and google is the number one search engine , that does not mean your blog will be properly indexed just because your using google to host your blog. Bad news is if your hosted on blogger and not hosting it off site you can not use a custom XML site map. Hopefully google will include the ability to do so in the future. The work around for this is you can use something google already gives you , albeit it was not intended to be used as an xml site map and you cannot twink your site map , like setting priority or changing frequency tags. Also sadly you will only be able to site map the last 25 posts of your blogger.

Here is the xml file google gave my blogger. Every blogger has one. mine is :

So take your blog address and add atom.xml to the end in the URL bar of your browser and that is what you can use to send to google as a site map. This is your atom rss site feeder by the way.

Best bet for a good money making blog or a blog you want the best search engine ranking would be to host it elsewhere with a custom domain while still in the blogger network. You also would have access to FTP going that route.

Ok the new google norm is now xml , leaving many of us out in the cold who are used to just html. There is a fix to this issue however !! I found a website that offers an html to xml conversion tool. What you do need to do however is use a tool like dreamweaver or even download your blogger template to your desktop ( you can revert your blog template to html , add your html script that you need to have converted to xml and download that template to your desktop) then use the apps on this website to convert your HTML to XML !!

1. The META Tag Analyzer is a combination spider and syntax checker. If you are getting results which declare your page not to contain any Tags, and you know it does, please double check your syntax. Also make absolutely sure you are using the correct URL by clicking on it.

2. With some servers our robot is unable to make a connection. This usually indicates your server is down, very slow or disallowing our robot access. If you receive an error indicating we can't connect, we apologize for this, but there is little we can do about it. We suggest you try again when your server isn't so busy and make sure your server is on-line and functioning properly.

3. In some cases our program can't find your Tags. This is usually a syntax error. ALL these Tags MUST be between your HEAD and HEAD Tag.

4. 99.99% of all problems reported have been because of HTML syntax errors so PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR SYNTAX

Link Valet is a WWW Link checker. When you enter the URL of an HTML page on the Web, it will fetch the page, and print a report on it. Link Valet will also spider your site. When a link references another HTML page at the same site and hierarchy as the URL, Link Valet will recursively follow the link and prepare a similar report on the page referenced.

Each page report includes a summary of all links from the page. These include a brief description of the link. Links are highlighted if there is any condition that you might wish to investigate:

* The link returned an error.
* The server redirected the link (the link works but should be updated).
* The contents of the link have been updated since you last obtained a Link Valet report on the site.
* The server indicated that the same URL might return different documents to different users (e.g. according to language preference).

In addition, it includes further options for detailed reports. For each page, you can:

* View the page itself
* View the page headers
* Validate and clean the page (page valet)
* Probe any scripts referenced by Forms in the page (cg-eye)

useful to check for dead links in your blog , nothing is more embarrassing then pointing your reader to something that no longer exists on the web.
